Description
Description
- Similar to Cryptocoryne, broad leaves
- Young leaves are pink
- Suitable as solitaire
This Lagenandra from the south-west of India has not long been known as aquarium plant. In Europe, it is also found in trade under the name Lagenandra meeboldii “Pink”, but it differs from the plant traded under the same name in the USA. This Lagenandra looks a lot like a medium-sized wide-leaved Cryptocoryne. Under good light it has a nice orange-brown to pink leaf colour. It grows to 10 to 30 cm in height and has a spreading growth habit. Other than most crypts, it does not form underground runners, but has a thick rhizome. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommendable for Lagenandra meeboldii ‘Red’.
